Méli has arrived at the children’s hospital because of a mole that has developed badly. Shahara is staying there because of a rare genetic disease, xeroderma pigmentosum, also known as “moon children disease.” As she awaits an imminent operation, her ultraviolet-proof suit—which she is obliged to wear—becomes an astronaut’s outfit! Shahara then takes Méli on a space odyssey in which a light bulb becomes the moon, and the broom cupboard becomes a launchpad for the rocket’s liftoff. Will this new friendship help her achieve her goal? Director Aude-Laurence Biver creates a space where anything can be transformed, where every object, however insignificant, is elevated by the imagination. Shahara is a jubilant play about solidarity, hope and the power of dreams in the face of adversity.
