One word sums up this concert: passion! It is impossible to resist the incandescence of the Concerto by Grażyna Bacewicz, a leading 20th-century Polish composer whose work is being rediscovered, where the strings are literally set ablaze by irresistibly rhythmic writing. For Schumann's late Cello Concerto, Anastasia Kobekina, a princess of the new generation of cellists, will perform. To end the concert, conductor Baldur Brönniman takes us through the splendid Symphony No. 1 by Dutilleux, where the orchestra’s sections light up with glowing flames. A dazzling program!
