A flagship ensemble in chamber music, the wind quintet is a recent development. The brief Music for Wind Instruments is more experimental, separating the instruments into a trio and then a duo before bringing them together. Cuban musician trained in jazz, Paquito D’Rivera offers an explosive finale with a seven-movement suite in Latin American rhythms.
