Echoing Septets

In 2028, we will celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of Adolphe Blanc. This violinist was prominent during the Second Empire, but has faded from memory, notably because he favored chamber music at a time when opera was dominant. His Septet features elegant and lively romanticism, close to that of Carl Maria von Weber thanks to the clarinet. The piece will be presented alongside Beethoven’s Septet, a delightful work by a young musician adored by the Viennese public, with a very different tone from the denser quartets and piano sonatas written twenty years later.
