The first major retrospective devoted to Berthe Brincour is accompanied by a bilingual French/English catalogue. This original academic publication, entirely dedicated to her life and work, is largely based on the Brincour bequest held in the museum's collections. Bringing together biographical, contextual, technical, and material approaches, this catalogue offers essays dedicated to Brincour's life and artistic career, discusses the artistic education available to women of her time, provides initial context and analysis of her work, her working methods, and the materials she used, as well as a technical study of her creations in various media. Going beyond the role of an exhibition catalogue, this book aims to be a reference and a new milestone in the study of a long-ignored chapter of art history in Luxembourg.
