Otello - opera
- opera
Ted Huffman, the new director of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, presents the famous Shakespearean drama Otello in a new setting: Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece, composed in the 19th century, is set here in 1950s Italy. In a society where glamour and violence coexist, Otello goes from being a triumphant general to murdering his wife. Huffman’s staging unfolds through energetic physical performance and highlights the strategies of manipulation and the central role of the chorus, which comes from the Opéra national du Rhin and the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine. Giulio Cilona, whom Luxembourg audiences know for conducting Rossini’s La Cenerentola in 2025, conducts the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra.
