EVA QUARTET is composed of four of the finest Bulgarian female voices, four young soloists from the world-renowned female choir “The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices”, selected after a rigorous selection process from among thousands of candidates. In 1999, the four singers spontaneously founded the group. They immediately found a common language as well as shared artistic interests. During their concerts, they create an authentic atmosphere of great purity, in which the audience often has the impression of listening to a single voice composed of several dimensions. The singers master a virtuoso and particularly impressive vocal style, based on exceptional technique. The quartet’s repertoire includes authentic folk songs from different regions of Bulgaria. The singers seek the original purity and authenticity of these songs, while offering a modern and highly personal interpretation of the tradition. The quartet’s programme includes ancient Bulgarian music and religious songs, as well as improvisation and contemporary music.
