In 1948, a young boy named John Eliot Gardiner took part in the Nativity play organized by his mother at the family home in Dorset. Every Christmas, local schoolchildren, farmers and craftsmen came together to sing festive hymns, read texts, or perform mime. Decades later, Gardiner, now one of the most famous conductors in the world, draws inspiration from these childhood memories to create a unique concert program. "Once As I Remember" brings together centuries of European Christmas music in Latin, English, and German to create a warm, joyful and intimate atmosphere.
