The exhibition Not Today features recent works by Sam Krack and marks his second solo show at Valerius Gallery. Sam Krack’s work focuses on the hyperrealistic reproduction of overlooked everyday images, including photographs of insurance statements, online ads, or cluttered domestic interiors. Using slow and meticulous techniques such as oil painting, engraving, and sculpture, he elevates these images into carefully constructed artworks. In his new series Not Today, Krack references the famous date paintings by On Kawara, adopting their format but inserting groups of dates to create a playful and reflective dialogue about language, conceptual art, and the passage of time. His practice combines appropriation, irony, and tenderness to question how images gain meaning and value in contemporary consumer culture.
