Concert Actart: Slide, Valves and Keys

Show & Culture

This concert brings together a rather rare trio: trombone, horn, and piano. With the Concertino by Michael Haydn, younger brother of the better-known Joseph, the trio begins by blending gentleness and virtuosity. Two beautiful works follow, where the musicians will perform in more intimate formations: the six miniatures from Cornucopia by the English composer Thomas Dunhill for horn and piano, followed by Aria and Polonaise by the Belgian composer Joseph Jongen for trombone and piano. The trio returns to perform a new piece specially written for the occasion by Luxembourgish composer Luc Rollinger. The concert will end with the Suite for horn, trombone and piano by the American composer Bruce Stark, one of the rare original pieces for this ensemble, combining beautiful harmonies, dance, and varied rhythms.
