Meet, laugh, and dance... where you feel good: at the local café. The fifth edition of Esch by Night explores the connection between dance practices and 'the street': a space that is both real and metaphorical. We will see what 'street dance' reveals about urban space, how it enables us to (re)discover familiar and everyday places, and the memories and imaginings that these dances carry about the city. The event will begin with a gathering of dance and music at the record shop and cultural space 4D Groove, followed by a participative storytelling and dancing walk through the city's streets, ending at Brasserie des Terres Rouges with a DJ set and a festive evening. The event invites four generations of dancers: hip-hop pioneer André Afrika from Cool Brebs, Franklin Pereira, Serge Daniel Kaboré, and William Lopes and Azenildo Lopes Andrade from ASBL Raw Legacy. The event is designed as a gathering – join with your anecdotes and dance moves! Free and open to all. The project is organized by Escher Theater in collaboration with historian Laura Steil. Visual design by Isabelle Mattern.
