In 1951, a monument was erected in front of the church in Mersch to commemorate the victims of the Second World War. The names of resistants, deportees, and forcibly enlisted people from the Mersch commune appear on it. Since 2020, the Friends of History of Mersch, together with the guides and scouts from the Saint Michel group, have produced an annual film dedicated to one of these victims. The 2026 film continues the theme of resettlement and tells the story of Michel Rehlinger, who was interned in camp 103 at Boberstein and died there two days before Catherine Arendt from Reckange. The former Boberstein castle, now Bobrów (PL), hosted a camp for displaced Luxembourgers. Despite harsh and unfair conditions, the will to live was never broken. The film was made possible thanks to intergenerational collaboration between young scouts and passionate history friends.
