New Year's Concert

Under the artistic direction of Sidney Scho, the Cercle Symphonique de Rumelange dedicates this concert entirely to the Luxembourgish repertoire. Inspired by the famous Vienna New Year's Concert, the program creates connections between Vienna and Luxembourg through typically Viennese music such as polkas, waltzes, and marches, but exclusively by Luxembourgish composers. The program features rarely performed works by Laurent Menager, Dicks, Batty Weber, and Lou Koster, among others. Many of the pieces have been orchestrated for this concert by Yann Windeshausen, a young Luxembourgish composer who will also perform as a singer on some pieces. With the support of the Centre d'études et de documentation musicales (Cedom) of the National Library, musical treasures from their archives will be performed again.
