For one weekend, the old school in Esch-sur-Sûre transforms into a friendly open-air cinema. Discover two significant works from the history of Luxembourgish cinema, both honored by the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis: a historical drama about the post-war period and a cult superhero comedy. RETOUR À VIANDEN (Christophe Wagner) Christophe Wagner's historical film is set in post-war Luxembourg. In 1945, Jules returns from the war and tries to rebuild his life in a country deeply marked by the conflict. When his fiancée is found murdered, an investigation leads him to discover the darker sides of the Occupation and the immediate post-war years. The film was awarded the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis for Best Luxembourgish Feature Film in 2016. DE SUPERJHEMP RETÖRNS (Félix Koch) Based on the famous Luxembourgish comic Superjhemp, Félix Koch's film tells the story of Charel Kuddel, a government official in the midst of a midlife crisis who must regain his lost superpowers to save Luxembourg from a cosmic catastrophe. Filled with humor, numerous references to Luxembourgish culture, and a distinctive hero, the film was a huge public success. In 2021, it received the Lëtzebuerger Filmpräis for Best Luxembourgish Feature Film.
