Blacksmith Course for All Levels. The course runs for 3 years. Year 1: Basic Blacksmithing Techniques - Starting and managing a fire - Blacksmithing with a hand hammer: tapering, setting, drawing out, upsetting, rounding, driving, separating - Blacksmithing with a power hammer: splitting, setting, smoothing - Blacksmithing twists and scrolls - Blacksmithing on the air hammer - Final piece using all learned techniques Year 2: Advanced Blacksmithing Techniques - Forging tools: hammer, chisel, tongs, die, drift, handle - Fire welding: welding iron in the fire, adding carbon, forging an axe, Damascus steel - Sand Casting Year 3: Forge a project throughout the year. Examples from recent years: sculpture, fireplace tools, rocking chair, mirror frame, garden bench, door knocker To Bring: Safety Glasses Safety Shoes S3 Blacksmith's apron (or welder's apron), may be provided by the CNFPC Work Gloves for Blacksmith or Welder (heat resistant)
