Blacksmithing course for all levels. The course runs over 3 years. Year 1: Basic blacksmithing techniques - Making and managing a fire - Forging with a hand hammer: pointing, setting down, drawing out, upsetting, rolling, driving, separating - Forging with a power hammer: splitting, setting down, smoothing - Forging twists and scrolls - Forging with an air hammer - Final piece using all learned techniques Year 2: Further blacksmithing techniques - Forging tools: hammer, chisel, tongs, die, fuller, handle - Fire welding: welding iron in fire, hardening, forging an axe, Damascus steel - Casting in sand molds Year 3: Forging project throughout the year. Examples from previous years: sculpture, fire basket, rocking chair, mirror frame, garden bench, door knocker To bring: Safety goggles Safety shoes S3 Blacksmith's apron (or welder's apron), can be provided by the CNFPC Work gloves for blacksmith or welder (heat resistant)
