The Art of the Everyday: Objects and Portrait in Black-White-Grey
Drawing begins where each person's inner mark meets the paper. Observing an object, a fruit, or a simple vegetable becomes a different way of perceiving: sensing a light, understanding a shadow, recognizing a material. This course offers a sensitive and comprehensive approach to observational drawing in black, white, and gray, through everyday objects. The first part of each session is devoted to objects: their shapes, their textures, their reflections, their volumes. Here, one learns to translate light, grasp nuances, and render reality with precision and expressiveness. The second part is dedicated to a portrait chosen during the first session, developed step by step over the weeks, at a calm and progressive pace. This long process allows for deeper observation, strengthening technique, and building a personal, accomplished piece. At the end of the trimester, each participant leaves with a series of realistic object studies and a polished final portrait, reflecting their development and unique style of drawing. This course is meant for anyone wishing to learn to observe, translate reality, and draw with sensitivity and intention. Materials to bring: A4 sheets, 200 g paper, HB–6B pencils, Bic pens, charcoal, erasers (kneaded and classic), ruler, blending stump, sharpener.
