As part of the exhibition « état bruit », the installation « Repeat After Me II » highlights the concept of the « collective work » underpinning Open Group’s approach. The works of this collective of Ukrainian artists are characterised by an « open situation », that is, an experimental exploration of the interaction between people and specific spaces. The installation « Repeat After Me II » highlights the defining characteristics of Open Group’s approach. The artists have chosen to present two similar films featuring Ukrainian refugees recreating, from memory, the poignant sounds of war. This creates a narrative that highlights the sinister continuity of the conflict. A discussion between the artists Anton Varga (in person) and Pavlo Kovach (via videoconference from Ukraine), as well as Marta Cziż (commissioner) and Charles Wennig (curator), will explore Open Group’s practice and propose avenues for reflection to raise public awareness of the war currently raging in Ukraine.
