You know how to make people laugh. Now it’s time to really hit the mark with your jokes. Organized by the team behind the Festrogen Festival, a Luxembourg festival celebrating women and gender-diverse voices in comedy and the performing arts, this hands-on workshop will help you refine your joke writing, find your unique comedic voice and turn good ideas into better material. We’ll explore what makes a joke work and why even a good joke can sometimes fall flat. You’ll learn to identify what’s missing, develop the material that gets the most laughs and use tags to add more impact, surprise and personality to your jokes. Above all, you’ll work on developing a voice that is unmistakably your own. Because the goal isn’t just to become a comedian. It’s to become THAT comedian—the one people remember. Drawing on the teachings of Adam Bloom and Judy Carter, this workshop is aimed at comedians who already have some stage experience, as well as more experienced comedians who want to create new material, strengthen their existing jokes or get out of a creative rut. Come with ideas, existing material or simply the desire to write better jokes. Leave with new tools, new material and a clearer sense of what makes your comedy unique.
