The Art of Negative Space
- Workshop
Discover a new way of seeing and creating by focusing on the shapes around your subject rather than on the object itself. In this playful and experimental workshop, we will explore the concept of negative space in order to create expressive compositions inspired by the world around us. Whether working from plants, interior spaces, still lifes or everyday objects, we will learn how shifting our attention to the spaces between and around shapes can simplify complex subjects and reveal unexpected forms and rhythms. This workshop encourages curiosity, observation and experimentation. It is suitable both for complete beginners and for more experienced artists who want to relax and see familiar subjects in a new way. Different materials and approaches may be explored throughout the session.
