Psychology 1 - The Basics
What is psychology? What does it seek to understand, and how does it study human behavior? This course offers an accessible introduction to psychology as a scientific discipline. Participants will discover its history, its main schools of thought, its fields of application, and the methods used to better understand human thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Throughout the sessions, we will review the major stages in the history of psychology, some notable experiments that helped shape the discipline, the various fields in which psychologists work, as well as a first introduction to the main psychological disorders. The aim is to provide an overview of modern psychology, to better understand its development, and to distinguish scientific knowledge from preconceived ideas. Featuring numerous examples and famous studies, this course is intended for anyone wishing to discover the foundations of psychology.
