In this play by Jasmine Lee-Jones, Cleo holes up in her bedroom to write a dissertation on structural racism. A tweet announcing Kylie Jenner as the youngest self-made billionaire triggers a series of anonymous posts denouncing the appropriation of Black culture and white privilege. As her friend worries about Cleo’s digital fantasies, the lines between the online world and real life become blurred. This witty, fast-paced, darkly comic drama explores Black identity, beauty ideals, cultural appropriation, racism, queerness and wokeism.
