The second part of a trilogy devoted to taboos in Luxembourg society, Quelques-uns le demeurent sensitively explores depression and suicide through the fate of a young history teacher and the grief of those close to him. A family gathers for the funeral of a son, brother and lover who took his own life after a lifetime confronting what Churchill called the black dog of depression. Over a final meal of Ham, Fritten an Zalot, a sister, a father and a partner share memories of the deceased, while he wanders through the dark space of the bardo. As he hears his loved ones’ memories and feels their despair, he reflects one last time on his life, its joys and its sorrows. The play questions depression, suicide, masculinity and bereavement in Luxembourg society.
