STADTSTEMPEL – Reprinting the city’s traces

of all types

This workshop explores the theme of the “ruin” featured in the exhibition through a simple modelling-clay stamping technique. Pressed against shapes, structures and objects, the clay becomes a printing matrix used to collect and combine traces on paper. Patterns from Esch-sur-Alzette’s urban space, together with materials from the FerroForum Ressourcerie, will provide starting points for creating new portraits of the city, where its present, ruins and industrial history meet. Since 2024, studio pari–pari has been developing STADTSTEMPEL, a public-space archiving project. From 21 to 25 October 2026, the artist duo will explore the streets of Esch-sur-Alzette to collect fragments of the city as imprints.
