The festivities around the anniversary of the Grand Duke will begin on the eve of the National Day, on Sunday, June 22, 2025. The capital will come alive from 4 PM with the traditional changing of the guard in front of the Grand Ducal Palace.
In the evening, get ready to join the 2,500 participants of the torchlight procession (Fakelzuch) which will set off at 9:30 PM from the Place du Théâtre. Imagine a luminous parade winding through the city, passing by the Côte d’Eich, the Rue du Fossé, up to the Place Guillaume II to parade in front of the grandstand. From there, the procession will continue via Rue du Fossé to Place de Clairefontaine where it will disband.
At 9:30 PM, the Grand Ducal family will be welcomed at Place Guillaume II by the mayor, Madame Lydie Polfer, and the deputy mayor, Monsieur Maurice Bauer, then escorted to the grandstand.
To close this fairy-tale night, the sky of Luxembourg will light up at 11 PM with a spectacular fireworks display fired from the Pont Adolphe , accompanied by a musical composition by Maxime Bender. A moment of pure magic not to be missed! 🎇✨
But the celebration also takes place in the heart of downtown: from 7 PM, Place d'Armes will immerse you in Luxembourgish folklore with "La Ronde" and "Uucht – The Vigil" (from 7:00 PM to 7:45 PM) and "Lidderuucht Lëtzebuerg" (from 8:00 PM to 8:45 PM). And if you're still standing , DJ Don Simon will take over from 10:30 PM to 1:30 AM with his eclectic mixes to make you dance until the end of the night 💃🎶
