A family of field mice lives in a wall near a farm. The farmer has left, and the barn is empty. Autumn is coming, and the mice must gather supplies for winter. Everyone works except Frederick. Instead of collecting fruits, corn, nuts, and berries, Frederick sits and dreams. "Why don't you work?" the other mice ask. "But I do work!" says Frederick. He gathers colors, sun, music, and beautiful words for the long winter. He becomes someone who can create joy and beauty from nothing… A true artist!
