Gianni Schicchi is the only purely comic opera by Giacomo Puccini, considered a true musical and theatrical gem that appeals to a wide audience. Inspired by an episode from Canto XXX of Dante's Inferno, the opera is set in Florence in 1299 and features the Buoso Donati family, who panic after discovering the family inheritance has been left to the clergy. The heirs then call on Gianni Schicchi to forge the will. Enhanced by immersive 360° staging, the work offers a lively pace and a cynical, jubilant comedy lasting about an hour. The opera will be preceded by an introduction on Dante and the Divine Comedy. This production features young soloists and highlights the influence of the Sequenda company in the international operatic world. Stage direction is by Daniele Piscopo, with costumes by Giulia Bonuccelli and musical direction by Wei Jiang and Ludovico Drago.
