Since the Middle Ages, artists have depicted cities, thereby providing valuable historical insights into urban planning, political, demographic and economic changes. Urban life remains a major source of inspiration for modern and contemporary artists. The Lëtzebuerg City Museum collection illustrates urban evolution since the 16th century, blending history and artistic interpretation over time, from majestic overviews to abstract and expressive visions of the city. Based on this, the exhibition on the museum’s 5th floor highlights our city and invites visitors to an active dialogue with the collections. The space is designed to provide a multidimensional, multisensory and experimental experience, accessible to all types of audiences and encouraging participation.
