Show & CultureShow & CultureAurélie Jouanen is invited to occupy the Degrés Est space, dedicated to artists connected to the Grand Est region, following a proposal by Bérénice Saliou, director of Frac Champagne-Ardenne. A graduate of the École Boulle and the Beaux-Arts de Reims in 2022, Aurélie Jouanen explores power relations and social violence through painting, performance, installation and publishing. By examining the rise of security policies, the artist brings to light figures who are usually rendered invisible. At FRAC Lorraine, the artist will present a series of paintings devoted to the gestures of security guards. Through portraits of figures usually kept in the shadows, she questions the ambivalence of the cultural world, both as a tool of domination and as a possible space for emancipation.
