Screening & Panel Discussion: "Exile" by Mehdi Hmili, a collaboration between the National Centre for Industrial Culture and Tarantula Distribution In a Tunisian steel mill threatened with closure, Mohamed is the victim of an explosion that leaves him scarred for life. Removed from his position, he refuses to remain silent and sets out to uncover the truth about what really happened. The film "Exile" delves into the daily lives of steelworkers: the harshness of the work, life spent away from their families, the camaraderie born of shared danger, but also the imposed silences and power dynamics weighing on those who keep the industry running. A reality that, in other latitudes, is not so far removed from Luxembourg’s steelmaking history. This screening, organised in partnership with the National Centre for Industrial Culture (CNCI) and Tarantula, will be followed by a discussion with speakers (historians and former steel industry employees, and the film’s producer) to place the film in perspective and explore the experiences of those who, here, knew the same factories, the same closures and the same struggles. An evening designed for people in the industry, past and present, and for all those interested in the industrial heritage of our region.
