Leila Lallali’s exhibition good luck explores time through the body and ordinary objects: candles, lipsticks, perfume and ripe fruit. These objects, which disappear or transform as they are used, become quiet instruments of time and daily rituals. Made during a period of burnout, the work considers endurance, uncertainty, care and the pressure of maintenance: ageing well, remaining desirable, keeping things intact and trying to control what cannot fully be controlled. The title good luck moves between encouragement, resignation, irony and tenderness. The work holds this tension between use and refusal, ripeness and stillness, presence and disappearance, and between the body as lived and the body as seen.
