As part of [sculpture trail], Luxembourg Art Week presents outdoor works and installations throughout the city. Jean-Claude Meynard presents Babel Pyramide, 2008, a cut-metal sculpture. Reinterpreting the myth of Babel, the work replaces stones with endlessly repeated human silhouettes. Each silhouette is both an individual and an element of a whole, forming an architecture in which unity emerges from multiplicity. The Pyramid becomes a metaphor for a complex, interdependent humanity that is always under construction: people no longer build Babel; they become Babel itself. Born in 1951, Jean-Claude Meynard has developed work ranging from hyperrealism to fractal geometry and digital art. A signatory of the Fractalist Manifesto, he explores the complexity of reality through the cycles Identités, Corps, Homme fractal and Métamorphoses.
