Paul Kirps goes instantly
For his new exhibition, 'Time 0', Paul Kirps is working on a new medium, the Polaroid, and testifies to the cities he has encountered over the past two years, including during the lockdown.
We know the work of Paul Kirps through his monumental murals, as at the European School or the European Commission, his paintings with ultra-mastered minimalist looks or his fascination with machines and technologies from another age, including the design is transcribed in an abstract way in sculpture. But what Paul Kirps shows in the cloister of Neumünster is of a different kind, since this time it is a photographic work, a series of Polaroids, some of which are printed in large format.
For two years, the artist has been exploring this new medium and taking photos in the cities he visits: New York, Barcelona, Lisbon, Palma, Arlon, Brussels. At the time of confinement, he chooses to take advantage of the situation and testifies to what he sees around him. The most recent photos are taken in Merl, Differdange, Kirchberg, Esch-sur-Alzette during the confinement period.
