The novel *Two Gentlemen on the Beach* by Michael Köhlmeier enthralled critics and readers upon its release in 2014. Charlie Chaplin and Winston Churchill meet on a beach – between the surf, personal struggles, and the disasters of the 20th century, they establish a connection. They form a pact against the 'black dog': whenever one is about to fall into a slump, he can ask the other for help.
Frank Feitler, the late former director of the Théâtres de la Ville, worked on this project until his passing. Director Ivan Panteleev distills the essence of this sensitive yet moving book, giving *Two Gentlemen on the Beach* its own stage – performed by the renowned actors Luc Feit and Steve Karier.
