Youth Workshop: Fragments of Self with Lisa Junius
The 'Modules' programme offers you the opportunity to work closely with artists and delve deep into the world of contemporary art. You will explore new techniques, broaden your artistic understanding, and develop your own skills through a series of encounters.
For this module, we invite Lisa Junius.
How can one explore different facets of their identity through art? How can you, like Eleanor Antin, create an alter ego that draws inspiration from you but distorts reality to portray a fictional yet autobiographical character?
The workshop will explore the use of mosaic techniques as a form of intuitive, sensory, and symbolic expression. Using simple shapes, colours, and fragments of materials, you will be invited to create a work that reflects an aspect of yourself, whether real, imaginary, or hidden.
Biography:
Lisa Junius is an interdisciplinary visual artist and ceramicist born in Luxembourg. Her work explores tranquil inner worlds inhabited by female figures, cosmic elements, and mental landscapes. Through painting, ceramics, illustration, and design, she creates a meditative and sensory visual language. Her practice is a realm of re-enchantment and gentle resistance, where manual gestures and organic shapes serve as instruments for refocusing, healing, and connection. Drawing inspiration from nature, lunar cycles, and an intuitive aesthetic, she questions notions of femininity, everyday magic, autonomy, and healing.
