Anneke van Giersbergen is a Dutch singer-songwriter, known for her powerful and emotional voice, musical versatility, and captivating stage presence. After thirteen years as the lead singer of melancholic metal band The Gathering, Anneke began her solo career in 2007, quickly gaining success. She has collaborated with Devin Townsend, Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), Within Temptation, Icelandic folk group Árstíðir, Amorphis, Napalm Death, and John Wetton (King Crimson). In 2019, she received the Buma ROCKS! Export Award from Buma Cultuur for her international impact. Early 2021 saw the release of her solo album ‘The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest’ and a notable appearance on Dutch TV show ‘Beste Zangers.’ To mark the 30th anniversary of 'Mandylion,' The Gathering's original line-up reunited for several sold-out concerts, generating huge enthusiasm and resulting in a series of major concerts and festival appearances in 2026. Her new solo project, 'La Vie, La Mort, L’Amour,' will be released as a trilogy. The first EP, 'La Vie,' was released in February 2025, followed by 'La Mort' on March 27, 2026, preceded by the single 'Red Sky' released February 20. A special vinyl edition will be available on Record Store Day, April 18. The trilogy explores a profound emotional journey inspired by the loss of both her parents within two months. For these recordings, Anneke brought her eight-piece live band into the studio, drawing musical inspiration from the 1980s and 1990s.
