Tixi Weis’s photo series “once upon a time” features sculptures made from retro everyday objects and fine glassware, mostly sourced from flea markets. Once given as gifts for engagements, weddings or birthdays, these now old-fashioned objects are staged like still lifes. Their transparency evokes emptiness, memories and nostalgia. The sturdy yet fragile crockery questions the illusion of permanence, consumer society, human relationships and the loss of loved ones.
