Have you ever wanted to learn how to draw faces but didn’t know where to start? In this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop, we’ll explore the basics of portrait drawing and discover how artists use simple proportions and shapes to create convincing portraits. Working from magazine references or with one another, we’ll focus on the traditional front-facing portrait and learn how the different features of the face fit together. This workshop isn’t about perfection, but about developing observation skills and understanding the underlying structure of the face. Suitable both for complete beginners and for those wishing to refresh their drawing skills. For anyone who would like to explore portraiture further, a longer portrait course will be offered later in the year. During this workshop, you’ll be able to: Explore the basic proportions of the face. Work from magazine references or with the other participants. Learn simple measuring techniques. Receive personalised guidance throughout the session. All materials are included. Suitable for beginners. Leave with a better understanding of portrait drawing and the confidence to continue exploring faces in your own creative practice.
