Medernach in Larochette: Between nature and castle
Set off on a walk full of surprises from Medernach, ideal for recharging your batteries, strolling, and opening your eyes wide. The path begins in front of the town hall, then heads out of the village. An initial climb runs along fields before entering the forest, offering a superb view of Medernach.
First highlight: the 700m barefoot path and its motor skills park. Take off your shoes, test your balance and show off your skills (or laugh at your falls, it happens to everyone!). Right next door, the Kengert campsite offers something to eat if you're feeling peckish.
Then, heading through meadows and forests, the path runs alongside a stream and the Ousterbuer spring, where an old legend tells of the reconciliation of two friends one Easter day. The water from this spring is drinkable.
The path crosses rock formations, passes over two ponds, and leads you down to the lively village of Larochette. Behind the church, a climb leads you to the Himmelsbierg, offering a fantastic view of Larochette Castle. A few steps further, the Salzdeebelchen, with its pavilion, is perfect for a short, contemplative break.
The return journey alternates between forest and open spaces, passing pretty old farms and gently bringing you back to Medernach. Highest point: 400 m, before enjoying the last two kilometers to conclude this magnificent loop.
