Yannick Tossing (*1994) is a Luxembourgish artist with a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from the University of Strasbourg and a Master’s in Comparative Arts and Media Studies from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His artistic practice includes in-depth research visualizing the effects of Huntington’s disease. For years, he used sculpture to represent the physical challenges of the disease, such as loss of motor function. Later, he turned to photography to explore cognitive aspects, including memory loss, confusion, or perception issues. This transition allows Yannick Tossing to delve further into how Huntington’s disease affects both body and mind, creating a nuanced representation based on over 15 years of observation in his own family.
Noël Bachés (*1994) starts his creative process with traditional oil painting, focusing on the interplay of colors through layering and blending. He then moves into the digital realm, refining gradients and enhancing the work’s depth. The final artwork is printed on brushed aluminum, a reflective surface that engages with its surroundings and the viewer’s perspective. The combination of analog and digital methods, plus the aluminum’s properties, results in a striking play of light and color.
The exhibition Echoes brings together both artists’ perspectives on memories, the abstraction of thoughts, and the recurrence of old feelings.
