In BeComing, photographer and visual artist Tetiana Popyk, also known as Tanita, explores identity as an ongoing process shaped by cultural systems and inherited feminine archetypes. Through photography, mixed media, and conceptual photo collage, the exhibition reflects on how femininity is constructed by visual codes, memory, and social structures.
The series evolves from black-and-white portraits, which subtly challenge established norms of gender, androgyny, and authority, to colorful collages inspired by Mexico and reinterpreted ethnographic elements. The works examine the architecture of identity: how inherited narratives define the role of women and how these narratives can be rethought. A QR code for each work provides access to a short reflection and a musical composition associated with the visual piece, creating a dialogue between image and melody. BeComing explores the feminine archetypes we inherit, embody, or choose to transform.
